1) «WHAT IS THE TRIKITIXA?»

Since their debut, Korrontzi have been involved in the disclosure of history of trikitixa, a traditional instrument which occupies an important place in Basque culture and whose peculiarities fill up the speeches Agus Barandiaran (Korrontzi’s trikitixa player) gives wherever people are interested in anything connected with that small accordion.

2) “KOPLARIAK KOPLARI”

Taking as a common thread the old verses that Xabier Amuriza has compiled and created during the last decades, the essence of this act will be to show the listener the influence that these old and new verses have had on popular music as well as reel off its content; the traveling partner will be Agus Barandiaran (KORRONTZI) who, through his trikitixa, will be in charge of playing music to these couplets, and there will even be the opportunity to listen to the two participants interpreting them.

In the world of traditional music, not only its disclosure by means of concerts and speeches, but also its pedagogical teaching are the fundamental pillars we are based on. We must work with it to ease the transmission to the new generations of this heritage we received. Korrontzi work day after day to maintain this tradition as a treasure for the youngest ones. With this aim, we take part actively in the teaching of activities such like trikitixa or traditional dances.

Korrontzi take with them a small part of our land wherever their presence may be required. Basque country is presented through a live summary of some of the most representative songs of our whole musical career. Music and dance merge during those live concerts we offer throughout the world monde since our debut.

We have a new project underway, we have arranged the music of Korrontzi to be able to interpret it with a Music Band. Thus, we undertake a project in which we will be able to play our melodies with different bands, therefore, we want to launch an open proposal to Music Bands:

“KORRONTZI BAND”, IN CONCERT WITH KORRONTZI!

We offered the first pre-release of this show in Lesaka, KORRONTZI & MUSIC BAND FROM LESAKA. In addition to Korrontzi, the Music Band and the conductor / arranger Xabier Zabala, the local dance group and several guest musicians also participated. The result was outstanding and gathered crowd of audience./p>

We have already toured numerous locations with this show collaborating in each of them with its Band of the town. Now, we want to transfer our invitation to other bands to offer a concert together.

DANCE WITH KORRONTZI!

During years, the sound of trikitixa has been animating village dances and public hops. This is the path we want to follow. For this reason, we give you the opportunity to dance with us.

In 2014, Korrontzi celebrated their tenth anniversary. They seized that special occasion to offer the audience a unique performance. To make it exceptional, Korrontzi gather the twelve most relevant themes of their musical career and adorn them with the sounds of a symphonic orchestra like BOS (Bilbao Symphonic Orchestra) under the baton of Director Xabier Zabala. That work was recorded in the “Symphonic Bilbon” CD – DVD. This project is now a part of the wide range of live formats Korrontzi offers throughout the world.
